But suppose I go the other way. I go west a short distance, and perhaps then south into New York State or into Michigan. I go into a court room over which floats another flag, different from mine indeed, but a flag with which I have been familiar all my life, because I was born and brought up on the shore of Lake Ontario; and our American friends visit us frequently and they never allow us to forget the Stars and Stripes is their flag. It is a flag with which I have been familiar all my life and which I look upon as next to my own.
