Essays and addresses
Throughout his life he has been interested in the study of historical and constitutional subjects, ancient and modern, and has specialized in the Canadian field. His books, brochures, pamphlets and fugitive sketches form a valuable collection of " Eiddelliana " in public libraries, and testify to the extent and variety of his investigations into the history of the paSt Honours have been showered upon him by Canadian and United States universities in recognition of his devotion in this respect. The Ontario Archives has found in him a constant friend, further evi- dence of which, it is expected, will be forthcoming in the near future. To Mr John Eoss Eobertson, Toronto, whose indefatigable labours have won for him a position which is quite unique in the field of Can- adian history and antiquities, the Ontario Archives is indebted for the portraits which illustrate this volume.
